REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION AUGUST 3RD, 2022
Chairman Jeb Ball called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance: Charles Cunniffe, Amanda Tanaka, Kiki Raj, Terry Butler, Bill Dinsmoor,
and Jeb Ball were present. Absent was Angi Wang.
Staff present:
Nicole Henning, City Clerk
Mr. Cunniffe motioned to approve the minutes of July 13th; Ms. Butler seconded. All in favor, motion
carried.
Mr. Ball suggested the commission have a follow up discussion on the living lab in the core.
Ms. Tanaka said she thinks the idea of safety in the core has been taken to a weird level and they have a
lost a lot of vitality with the living lab.
Mr. Cunniffe said the lab is about the biker, not the car. Mr. Ball agreed and said when Mr. Cunniffe
mentioned in the last meeting about how the “bikers now feel empowered”, it really hit home with him.
Mr. Cunniffe said he saw locals that he knows riding bikes on the sidewalks. Mr. Ball said it would be
nice if they could put together a little vignette of all the scenes and things they are seeing around town.
Ms. Tanaka mentioned Silver City Cycles and said they’ve been posting daily safety check ins on Tik Tok
and Instagram. It’s great to have that out there.
Mr. Dinsmoor said, in summary, this has not made it safer.
Ms. Butler and Mr. Cunniffe agreed and said they never see happy interactions in that area.
Ms. Raj entered the meeting.
Mr. Cunniffe said people should walk their bikes in the core.
Mr. Dinsmoor said ultimately, they want a car free downtown.
Mr. Cunniffe said we aren’t a little village in Italy, it’s not the same thing.
Ms. Raj said she knows a lot of people who are now not going to dinner in the core in the evenings is
because it’s an accessibility issue. She said she handed out the phone number for feedback on the lab to
everyone she came across.
Ms. Butler said if ever we get in on the living lab, the time is now. This is a very important issue. Ms.
Henning told her that Kathleen Wanatowicz is coming back at the next meeting and that is when the
board needs to give their feedback for it to be included in the report presented back to council.
The board spoke about al fresco dining and how the mayor wanted them to be a part of it again moving
forward. Ms. Henning filled them in on the current situation and said she would talk to Torre about his
vision on outdoor dining for the future.

The commission offered their help, if it’s helpful to the clerk’s office
Mr. Ball asked if anyone has heard any good feedback on the living lab and everyone said no.
Mr. Ball changed gears and mentioned having Mark Hunt or Spiro come to give us informal update on
projects which are sitting stagnant.
Mr. Dinsmoor said it would be nice to have the Ski Co. come give an update. It would be nice to have an
annual report.
Mr. Ball motioned to adjourn; Ms. Butler seconded. All in favor, motion carried. 9:28 am.
