HomeMy WebLinkAboutcclc.min.081722 1 REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION AUGUST 17TH, 2022 Chairperson Jeb Ball called the meeting to order at 8:35 am. Commissioners in attendance: Jeb Ball, Angi Wang, Terry Butler, Charles Cunniffe, Kiki Raj, Bill Dinsmoor and were present. Amanda Tanaka was absent. Staff present: Mike Sear, Deputy City Clerk Pete Rice, Deputy City Engineer Trish Aragon, City Engineer PJ Murray, Project Manager II Other attendees: Ward Hauenstein, City Council representative Kathleen Wanatowicz, Project Resource Studio Alycin Bektesh, ACRA LIVING LAB DISCUSSION Ms. Wanatowicz introduced herself and the Engineering staff. She updated the Commissioners on the data collected so far regarding the Living Lab and gave a general overview of its status. She then went over and described the ACRA meeting and presentation that had taken place. Next, she turned it over to Mr. Ball for CCLC’s presentation. Mr. Ball acknowledged Ms. Wang’s assistance in the business outreach. He presented slides that went over CCLC’s thoughts and survey results. He stated that the Living Lab was implemented on July 2nd. He then described the previous meetings between City staff and CCLC and stated that they felt there was limited outreach to businesses. Next, he went over the results of the 190 face to face interviews that CCLC had conducted with businesses in the core. He also reviewed the goals of the Living Lab and commented that they did not include anything about the businesses. He then went over CCLC’s recommendations that included: • Businesses not solicited • CCLC supports the Living Lab being terminated prior the September 26th, • CCLC wants the City to fill the Downtown services role. • For the City to work with different stakeholders regarding the Living Lab. Then the commissioners went over their individual interactions and conversations with the community and businesses. Two business managers from Ralph Lauren and Moncler spoke about their experiences and how the Living Lab has affected their stores and business. Ms. Bektesh made comments on the Living Lab. Mr. Rice went over staff’s thoughts. Mr. Ball said the two things they are looking for are for the City to be open to feedback and to find a way for staff to work with CCLC and businesses for a better solution. 2 REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION AUGUST 17TH, 2022 Mr. Hauenstein made comments. Everyone agreed to hold another joint meeting on October 5th. Next a conversation was had regarding several alternative ideas. These included: • Downtowner expansion • More 4-way stop signs • New speed limits. • Parking time limits • Alleyway illegal parking issues. Ms. Wanatowicz went over a few follow up subjects the next meeting, including: • More results and data from the Living Lab. • Identifying issues • Mobility solutions • Enforcement ideas ADJOURN: Ms. Raj motioned to adjourn.
