HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.023-24RESOLUTION 4023 (Series of 2024) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, APPROVING A REQUEST BY RESPONSE: HELP FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT FOR FUNDING FOR THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR THE HALLE CENTER FOR HOPE AND HEALING. WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council a request for funds in the amount of $100,000 to be used expressly for a capital campaign to build a domestic abuse center by the nonprofit Response: Help for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (Response), which has a mission to support the survivors of domestic and sexual abuse; and, V�►THEREAS, the Aspen City Council heard a presentation from Response on January 22, 2024, regarding the request; and WHEREAS, tobacco tax dollars are collected for financing health and human services, tobacco related health issues and addiction and substance abuse education and mitigation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby approves the request of Response for funding to build a domestic abuse center in the amount of $100,000 to be paid from through tobacco tax revenue, and does hereby authorize the City Manager to complete the request as she deems appropriate pursuant to this resolution. INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Aspen on the 13th day of February 2024.
