The Next Gen Commission discussed the state of the committee and the fact that they need one more
member to meet quorum.
The Next Gen Commission discussed the role of the commission as an advocacy group and how they
may evolve into a better partner for the Aspen City Council. Leah discussed that some Next Gen
members need to begin attending work sessions. Next Gen will begin reading agendas in advance and
targeting their advocacy to align with Aspen City Council.
Miller Ford introduced himself and his passion for mental health advocacy to the rest of the Aspen Next
Gen Commission.
Miller Ford described his two-prong approach to mental health. The community approach and the
clinical approach. He would like to see people get more involved in mental healthcare and the City of
Aspen to be more supportive in providing direct assistance and aid.
Next Gen discussed issuing a statement on the Cooper Avenue affordable housing project.
The Next Gen Commission discussed the possibility of getting involved in community organization. They
also discussed how the City of Aspen could do more community engagement.
