HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes.GRB.20240314.SpecialCity of Aspen: Grants Program Steering Committee Board Special - Meeting Date: 3/14/2024 10:00 am Location: City Hall Copper Pass Conference Room and Teams Board Attendees: Judy Clausson, Ann Mullins, Chris Menges, Not in Attendance: Tracy Anderson Staff Attendees: Patrick Quick, Natalie Blumentritt, Allisa Farrell, John Barker Start Time Agenda Topic Purpose of Discussion & Notes Action/Follow-up/Decision 10am Presentation of Revised Funding Recommendations Explanation of each devisions funding recommendations and the requested options: Arts and Culture: Option 1- Cutoff at 3.25: All members in support. Judy started discussion on an organization that is just under the cutoff (scoring of 3.24). Group decided on the clean cutoff and not to include the organization with 3.24, due to the grants program stratetic focus uarea (supports artistically excellent non-profit organizations which contribute to the cultural vibrancy of our community) Option 2 -Cutoff at 3.0 with reduced cap amount: Members are not in support. Ann Mullins left Meeting after AC Option 1 was discusses and all board members were in support. Health and Human Services: No change to previous presentation; cutoff at 3.0; All members in support. Community Non-Profit: Option 1- Cutoff at 3.5 and rounding up one organization by 0.2 to be included due to strategic focus area (enhancing organizations which create and deliver high impact community programming). Create Reviewer Comment document, to share with Organizations, especially those that aren't recommended to receive funding during this year's grant cycle. Grant Cycle 2025; follow up discussion, if an organization receives less than X percentage of request. Is this an effective use of limited funds. John is presenting percentages of funded requests from other Grantmakers (SkiCo, ACF, PitCo), COA is still funding more organizations, than the other Grantmakers (even with the cutoffs in each division) i Multi-Year Requests Health Human Services and Community Non-Profit to receive only one-year awards this year to allow more flexibility to our revised programming for 2025. All board members in support. Keep Arts and Culture two-year funding, as the overall budget impact is immaterial. All board members in support Wheeler In-Kind Requests The Wheeler Opera House will essentially be closed between now and early mid-January 2025, this renovation schedule means that we will not be able to accommodate some in-kind requests for the use of the Wheeler this year. Giving board members an update of all In-Kind requests. Discussion of certain in-kind request. Next Meeting Date April 4th, 2024 Adjourn Meeting adjourned at approximately 11:00am Multi-Year Grant Wheeler Closure Notify applicants on March 21 about grants review committee recommendations.
