HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes.GRB.20240502.RegularCity of Aspen: Grants Program Steering Committee - Meeting Date: 5/2/2024 10:00 am Location: City Hall Copper Pass Conference Room and Teams Board Attendees: Judy Clausson, Ann Mullins, Tracy Anderson Not in Attendance: Chris Menges Staff Attendees: Patrick Quick, Natalie Blumentritt, Allisa Farrell, John Barker Start Time Agenda Topic Purpose of Discussion & Notes Action/Follow-up/Decision 10am 2024 Finalized Grant Awards presented by Natalie B. - Checks sent out by Finance Department to each organization -Every awarded organization should receive their check by Mid May. - Added by John B.: Delivered smaller funding awards compared to LY, this caused historically more 1:1 conversations with organizations then we had in the previous years. Especially with applicants/ organizations that received historically a certain grant award every year. -Final Celebration of the Youth and Adults on May 16 at the Wheeler (Vault Bar Lobby) - This event will include participating artists, their friends and families, program staff, and the facilitators who led each cohort of adult and youth artists. -The artists will each give a brief presentation about how the fellowship impacted their work and their ability to contribute to Aspen’s reinvigorated artistic community. -Now called Nonprofit Community Impact Academy (NCIA) -Application window is closing on May 2, 2024. - So far we have received 6 submitted applications, the eligibility review will be performed by COA staff next week. -John D. will be leading this program again. -Eligibility has changed to LY, organizations outside of the HHS sector would need to have project or program that is HHS centric. - The program model has changed to become more of what the original vision was. The final deliverable will be an organizational sustainability plan, a new governance model between boards and executive directors, basically helping the organization get better and are are centered around financial stability. Pilot Program- Artist Fellowship presented by Natalie B. Pilot Program-Capacity Building presented by Natalie B. NCIA changes presented by John B. Policy Change Options created by COA staff 1.Restrict overall grants eligibilty to organizations presence in certain Zip Codes (Aspen to Glenwood) > Steering Committee in Support 2. Reduce the maximum grant request amount for organizations that do not have a presence 81611 zip code. > Steering Committee not in Support 3.Reduce max. grant request amounts (HHS $30K, AC$100K, CNP $60K) > Steering Committee in Support 4.Staff recommendation: Health Human Services and Community Non-Profit to receive only one-year awards this year to allow more flexibility to our revised programming for 2025. > Steering Committee in Support Decisions on the continuation of pilot programs 1.Discontinue Asset and Acquisition Assistance > Steering Committee in Support 2.Discontinue Capacity Building Grant > Steering Committee in Support 3. Continue and expand Artist Fellowship Program > Steering Committee in Support Next Meeting Date Adjourn Meeting adjourned at approximately 11:10am Policy Discussion 2025 Grant Cycle (incl.
