On October 20th,2019,David Coon,Aspen City Forester,performed an onsite inspection of the additional(1)7",(1)9",and(1)10"Spruce(trees#s 87,88,and 89 per the orginal tree permit#2018-017)being requested for removal near the SE corner of the lot at 1015 Waters Ave.as installation of the micropyle shoring wall caused an intolerable amount of damage to the structural roots of the three trees. The trees listed above are being requested to be removed in order to complete the project and have been assigned mitigation values using a standard formula developed for all trees found within the City of Aspen.The formula is as follows:Value=$42.00 x 3.14 x(D/2)2,where D is the diameter of the tree at breast height.The total mitigation owed for the three Spruce trees is$7,583.10. The contractor attempted to transplant the 14"Spruce tree(tree#7)per the orginal tree permit#2018-017.The transplanting attempt failed on 5/28/19,and per the maintenance bond dated 4/12/19 the bond amount of$6,500 will be forfeited. The original tree planting quote from Aspen Tree Service dated 3/6/18 in the amount of$23,807,which was never applied towards offsetting mitigation will now be applied toward the total mitigation amount due of$7,583.10. $0.00 net mitigation is due for the removal of the three Spruce trees.
