HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes.GRB.20241107.RegularMeeting Minutes: 2025 Grant Cycle & Cultural Vibrancy Fellowship Date: November 7, 2024 Time: 10am Location: City Hall Copper Pass Conference Room and Teams Attendees in person: Judy Clausson, Ann Mullins, Tracy Anderson, Chris Menges, Natalie Blumentritt, John Barker, Morgan Fixel 1. 2025 Grant Cycle Update Application Window: • The application window for the 2025 Grant Cycle opened on October 7, 2024. Training Sessions: • In-Person Training/Q&A: Held on October 15, with 15 organizations in attendance. • Virtual Session: Conducted on October 16, with 30 organizations participating. • Additional Support: Several one-on-one phone calls are scheduled with applicants to ensure they receive the support needed for completing their applications. Applications: • As of the meeting date, 25 organizations have started their applications online. 2. Grant Review Committee Update Interview: • On Monday, an interview was held for the Grant Review Committee position with James Wheaton O'Hagan. o Background: James graduated in May 2024 with a degree in Public Policy and Law & Religious Studies. He is actively involved with the Aspen High School Athletic Department. Open Positions: • There is one open position in each committee, but all committees have reached quorum and are well-prepared for the current grant cycle. Shelley Senterfitt 2. Susan Sparks 3. Ramona Bruland (switched from A&C) 4. Esther Navias (New) 3. Cultural Vibrancy Fellowship Grant Application Window: • The Cultural Vibrancy Fellowship application window opened on October 21, 2024 and will close on November 21, 2024. First Convening: • The first convening for the fellowship is scheduled for February 2025. Communications: • The fellowship is being promoted via newsletters, posters around town, and other communication channels. • A press release was issued yesterday, and the press release, along with the fellowship flyer, is attached to this email for distribution. 4. In-Kind Grant Request Discussion • A specific in-kind grant request from the Steering Committee was discussed. • One committee member suggested that the in-kind grant process, particularly for events, might need some updates. • Reasoning: In-kind requests differ from cash requests in some ways, and clearer guidelines could help streamline the reviewing process for both applicants and reviewers. • The committee discussed the need to review and potentially update the in-kind grant policy to provide more transparency and clarity in the future. Next Steps: • Continue supporting applicants with individual consultations. • Finalize arrangements for the first convening of the Cultural Vibrancy Fellowship. • Consider updating the in-kind grant policy and reviewing process.
