REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION MARCH 20TH, 2024
Chairperson Cunniffe called the meeting to order at 8:37 a.m.
Commissioners present: Kiki Raj, Amanda Tanaka, Stephanie Davis, Terry Butler, Charles Cunniffe, and
Noemi Kiss-Baldwin. Absent were Bill Dinsmoor, Jeb Ball, and Angi Wang.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
Joshua Moore and Odini Gogo – Mr. Gogo said they are here in regard to email communication with
Kathy regarding the space on Hyman. Mr. Cunniffe said he previously spoke with Odini about it. Mr.
Cunniffe said the discussion came about because of the history of this spot. He said Ms. Strickland used
to give Wind River a lot of space and he spoke about the big open spaces in the market. In trying to
consolidate the market plan, he said CCLC is trying to fill the gaps. He said we can work together for the
10 ft. gap so that it works for everyone. Some of the businesses on the street would be better deserved
by opening earlier possibly. Mr. Gogo said they are willing to do a red carpet as well. Mr. Cunniffe
encouraged them to put a sign out or something too. Ms. Butler said it could be anything creative.
The board asked about the letter written to council and the meeting. Ms. Henning and Ms. Tanaka
debriefed everyone and said it wasn’t quite what they expected.
Mr. Cunniffe asked why Councilor Hauenstein hasn’t been coming to the meetings. Everyone agreed the
liked him being there. Ms. Henning said she would find out if he would be returning or not.
Ms. Henning said mentioned the quarterly information only memos which CCLC could start submitting
to Council to keep them abreast of their projects. She pulled up their enabling legislation and read to the
board of what was originally intended so they can interpret for current day projects.
Ms. Butler spoke about the block captain project and asked if the mayor would feel ok with them
moving forward on that. Ms. Henning said she is happy to check in with the mayor and find out his
thoughts.
The board went over the block captain map and Ms. Tanaka asked Ms. Kiss-Baldwin if she feels she has
too many places to visit, but Ms. Kiss-Baldwin said she feels comfortable with it.
Ms. Davis said the sheet she created helps to quantify the task at hand.
Ms. Tanaka agreed and said she put in the managers that she knows. Other than that, it’s part of the
project to gather emails so we can communicate with them.
Mr. Cunniffe brought up parking since it is in their original ordinance and spoke about striping on
diagonal parking streets.
Ms. Tanaka spoke about sandwich boards. She brought up the history and how she came to council
about it a few years ago. Ms. Garrigus filled her in on where it stands today.
Ms. Tanaka said she brings hers in every night into the store. She said other neighbors in the Mill Street
Plaza have mangled looking ones. She wants more regulations without getting rid of it.

Ms. Tanaka asked Ms. Kiss-Baldwin how the hotels are doing currently, and she filled the board in on
bookings.
Ms. Raj motioned to approve the minutes; Mr. Cunniffe seconded. All in favor, motion carried.
