HomeMy WebLinkAboutminutes.cclc.061924 1 REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION JUNE 19, 2024 Chairperson Cunniffe called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m. Commissioners present: Kiki Raj, Amanda Tanaka, Jeb Ball, Terry Butler, Charles Cunniffe and Angi Wang. Absent were Bill Dinsmoor, Stephanie Davis, and Noemi Kiss-Baldwin. Staff present: Nicole Henning, City Clerk Emmy Oliver, Downtown Services COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Ms. Wang spoke about the Creperie and Mawa’s complaint regarding serving crepes in the market. Ms. Henning said she also heard from City Manager, Sara Ott that Mawa had complained, and I advised her to attend a CCLC meeting if she wished to speak about her concern. Ms. Raj entered the meeting at 8:43 a.m. Ms. Oliver said the Stone Fruit Company had also reached out to her to complain about not getting into the market this summer. Ms. Henning informed the group that the aggies did not approve them, but she would share contact information for the aggie board for the Stone Fruit Company to reach out for more detail. The board asked about a request to have one member of CCLC on the aggie board. Ms. Henning said she will take that to Kathy to see if we can have more alignment. Mr. Cunniffe said we are getting further and further apart. He said CCLC wants more farmers in the market and would get rid of some jewelry vendors. Ms. Tanaka said she was very pleased with the AYC booth. Ms. Raj said the new mushroom booth is amazing. The board agrees that the layout this summer looked great. Ms. Butler said she saw people packing up early at 1:30. Ms. Henning said she will share that with Kathy as well. Ms. Tanaka said the miniatures booth was so cool and she’s very happy with that one. She also said she got a lot of her block captain stuff done over the past couple of days. She asked everyone to add theirs into the sheet. She said a lot of people got feedback about staffing issues and said business seemed down. Ms. Wang gave a core update Ms. Raj said the Jerome will be having an art fair. It’s going to be a big one. Ms. Tanaka said it’s important to have data that they can quantify. After each season, hit up your block captain and fill in the spreadsheet. Mr. Cunniffe suggested they should talk to everyone on the block and not just retail. Ms. Raj said she took some stores on someone else’s block. 2 REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION JUNE 19, 2024 The board spoke about alleys, parking and dumpsters. Ms. Raj said everyone on the block hates Kemosabe and wishes they would go away. Ms. Garrigus said that the city now wants feedback on construction in the core. CCLC will want to participate, and she will be forwarding them a survey to send out to other businesses. They want to bring the biz community angle to council. The board voted to not meet the first week of July due to the 4th and will reconvene on the 17th of July.
