Dear David,
This document is intended to show compliance of the new construction of the Aspen Affordable Housing
located at 517 Park Circle, Aspen, CO with the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (2015 IECC).
We propose to use a prescriptive approach per sections 402.1-402.3 and 403.2.1 of the 2015 IECC.
Project
The project at 517 Park Circle is the new construction of a multi-family residence with a floor area of
7700 sf. For heat load calculations, please refer to the Appendix. The heat load calculations are
performed using the Carrier Hourly Analysis Program and provides a more detailed and accurate load
than Manual J.

The following table lists the mandatory minimum insulation and fenestration requirements for the project
climate zone (7). All new assemblies will meet the following requirements.
Fenestration Ceiling R- Wood frame Floor Basement wall Slab

2) Or insulation sufficient to fill the framing cavity, R-19 minimum
3) R-15 continuous insulation on the interior or exterior or R-19 cavity insulation on the interior of
the basement wall. Can be satisfied with R-13 cavity plus R-5 continuous.
4) 4 ft deep and R-15 edge insulation for heated slabs
5) R-10 continuous insulation or R-13 cavity insulation.
