Burlingame Update: Kids First will find a consultant to collect data regarding the need for childcare for the new
Burlingame Childcare Center. City Council approved 10-years vested for the land use entitlements. Nancy Nichols
mentioned that RMECC has a website that collects waitlist data and information on families looking what care.
Should be effective soon. The Town of Snowmass hired a consultant to do similar data collection, Kids First may
approach with this vendor as well.

Stotts Mill: Stotts Mill is still due to open in September and will.
Kids First Infant/Toddler Program: The board discussed changing the qualifications for the Kids First Infant/Toddler
program. Kids First wants to make sure these programs know that they have our support, regardless of how many
infants are enrolled.
Little Steps College: Little Steps College is presently closed, and Kids First met with an individual who is potentially
interested in getting the space licensed and taking over the space at CMC. Kids First is maintaining a waitlist for
infants/families waiting for the program to open again, these families will be contacted as soon as an opening date
is set.
Kids First 2025 Budget: Co-Director Nancy Nichols presented the Kids First 2025 Budget to the Advisory Board. For
details on numbers and budget distribution please visit https://www.aspen.gov/1566/2024-Budget-Financial-
Reports.
Kids First Housing Initiative Brainstorm Session: We recognize the connection between housing and childcare.
Childcare providers are essential workers. Without local affordable housing, childcare providers are forced to
commute long distances twice a day. This leads to high rates of turnover and a workforce that doesn’t live where
they work. It is incumbent upon Kids First staff and Advisory Board to work towards solutions to this problem.
