If more than 32 SF of drywall (one 8'x4' sheet) is being removed in any location along the demising wall during demo then a listed 1 hour assembly with STC rating of at least 50 will be required for replacement of the dwelling separation. Provide this listed assembly or note that less than 32 SF of drywall will be removed along the applicable demising wall. Box 2508 Aspen, CO 81621 RE: 120 Spring St. New lower level Header Tim, You recently contacted us to design a new window headers at the lower level of the residence located at 120 Spring Street in Aspen, Colorado. After reviewing the plans and running the calcs the new header for the 24" opening it needs to be (3)-5 1/2" LVL supported with (2)-2x6 one of which are trimmers if it is in a framed wall. The stone veneer may be supported off a L4x4x1/4 lintel attached with 5/8” bolts @ 12”o.c. If the wall is a concrete wall the new opening may be saw cut and the stone veneer may be supported with a L4x4x1/4 steel lintel. Please give me a call if you need anything else on this project. Sincerely, Mike Arbaney P.E. Your structural letter speaks to the new header for the egress window but does not make any mention of the other proposed interior wall demo being non structural.
