Barnes Construction, LLC 190 Riverdown Drive Aspen, CO 81611 craig@cbcaspen.com RE: Roof Access Hatch – 203 E Hallam, Aspen, CO 81611 Craig, We reviewed the as-built framing configuration around the new access hatch opening through the roof in the upstairs south-east bedroom, as shown in photographs received via email on April 7, 2020. The roof framing utilizes the south interior wall of the stair to support the short span rafters north of the adjacent existing roof beam. This interior wall bears down on the existing floor framing below. We understand a new parapet wall will be framed around the hatch opening, approximately 3’-0” in height, to support the new hatch assembly. Upon completion of our review of the as-built framing, we find that the roof framing around the hatch is structurally acceptable as-constructed, and the south interior wall of the stair will provide adequate support for the tributary roof load. Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact our office. Sincerely, Evolve Structural Design LLC Steven R. Edmiston, P.E., S.E. Senior Engineer 04/22/2020
