Box 1632 Lafayette, CA 94549 Re: Charthouse Lodge New Mechanical Units Dear Mr. Frye, The purpose of this letter is to state that we have reviewed the existing roof structure of the building located at 219 East Durant Avenue in Aspen, CO for support of a make-up air unit. Our review consisted of the following: review of the proposed mechanical equipment provided by MKK Consulting Engineers, Inc., review of the existing structural drawings, and structural calculations. The existing roof structure is metal roof deck over steel framing supported on steel columns. Existing roof members in the area of interest were W12x14 and W14x22 beams and W12X14 and W16X26 girders. Existing beams were spanning 23’-6” and spaced at 6’-0” OC. Existing girders spanned 18’-0”. The existing framing was checked for a roof dead load of 15psf, snow load of 75psf, and the additional mechanical loads. Based on our calculations and experience, the existing roof structure is adequate to support the mechanical equipment provided it is located as indicated by MKK.
