All bedrooms require an emergency escape window. If
the existing window does not fully comply as an egress
window the replacement window shall be of the largest
size that will fit within the existing rough opening and
shall be permitted to be the same operating style as the
existing window as long as it provides equal or greater
opening area than the existing window (IEBC 406.3)
