Re: Duncan Ski Haus,
Dear William,
This document is intended to show compliance of the addition & remodel of the residence located at 533
West Hallam, Aspen in Pitkin County, Colorado with the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code
(2015 IECC). We propose to use a prescriptive approach per sections 402.1-402.3 and 403.2.1 of the
2015 IECC. I have also included the inspection checklist from the 2015 IECC Rescheck program for your
use.
Project
The project at 533 West Hallam is an addition & remodel of a residence with a floor area of
approximately 3,740 sf. The heat load calculations are performed using the Carrier Hourly Analysis
Program and provides a more detailed and accurate load than Manual J. A dewpoint calculation is not
included in these permit documents, as the roof assembly meets the requirements of section R806.5 of
the 2015 IRC.
Building Envelope
The following table lists the mandatory minimum insulation and fenestration requirements for the project
climate zone (7). All new assemblies will meet the following requirements.

Notes: 1) Fenestration SHGC requirements do not apply in climate zone (7)
2) Or insulation sufficient to fill the framing cavity, R-19 minimum
3) R-15 continuous insulation on the interior or exterior or R-19 cavity insulation on the interior of the
basement wall. Can be satisfied with R-13 cavity plus R-5 continuous.
4) 4 ft deep and R-15 edge insulation for heated slabs
5) R-15 continuous insulation or R-19 cavity insulation.
6) All alterations that expose a framing cavity will have the cavity filled with insulation per R503.1.1
Sincerely,
Bryan Urban, EIT

The temperature of the spray foam/gyp board insulation interface is 69°F. Therefore, the resulting dew point of 41°F
would occur in the exterior rigid insulation, which verifies compliance.
