Galena Street 430 West Hallam Street Comment Responses Permit Number: 2017.11 September 5, 2018 Included in this document are the comments and corrections made by the City of Aspen’s Engineering Department. In green, below each comment, is a written response to the comment from Roaring Fork Engineering. These responses explain the alterations to the proposed design for conformance to the state and local codes. Adjustments to the plans, calculations, and drainage report are all described in the responses. All alterations done in the drainage report are highlighted. 1.The URMP states "Drywells should be considered a BMP of last resort. In areas where other BMPs are infeasible, drywells may be considered." Please demonstrate how other BMPs are infeasible. •Design revised. No longer proposing drywell. 2.No drain time calculations were provided in the report. Please include drain time calculations to ensure drywell drains within 24 hrs. •Drain times included in Drainage Report. 3.If existing utilities plan to be utilized, then all protected utilities need to be depicted and mentioned on plan. •Existing utilities are called out to be protected on Demolition Plan and called out on Utility Plans. C3 and C5 4.Micropile wall associated grading is located within existing drip lines. Please adjust design to be out of drip lines or obtain permission form the Parks Department. •Tree removal plan updated and micropile wall location adjusted. One conflicting tree is now to be removed, and the wall location has been adjusted to avoid drip line of second tree.5.Curb and gutter must be replaced as part of project. Please include replacement in plans as well as limits and detail. •Curb and gutter replacement proposed. C5 6.Grading is proposed within the drip lines of existing trees. Please obtain permission from the Parks Department or adjust design. •Design revised. C5 7.Slopes in this area are greater than the maximum slope of 3:1. Please adjust plans to include no grading steeper than 3:1. •Grades adjusted. C5 8.Please depict new locations on plans. •New location shown on plan. Please adjust plans. • Driveway surface has been revised to match existing surface in alley. C5 10. Proposed 7905' contour does not tie into existing 7905' contour, therefore creating grading on neighboring property. Please adjust design to prevent grading on neighboring property and proposed contours tie into existing contours. • Grading has been revised to stay out of tree drip lines. C5 11. Drywell must be located 10' from property lines. Please adjust location of drywell. • Drywell is no longer being used. C5 12. Existing water tap may not be utilized. A new tap must be performed for the quality of service. Please include the layout (as proposed location doesn't tie into the structure), detail, and other pertinent information. • New tap proposed. Existing tap to be abandoned and line removed. C5 13. Please provide evidence that existing electrical infrastructure has capacity for new development. If not, please locate new transformer on site with proper clearances and easement. • New electric service proposed. C5 14. 10' of separation must be achieved between sanitary and water service lines. • Design revised to maintain 10’ of separation between water and sanitary services. C5 15. Grading is proposed within the drip lines of existing trees. Please obtain permission from the Parks Department for such grading. • Grading revised.
