Cast Iron Sections
LGB™ sections are made of durable cast iron for
long life. It’s not uncommon for Weil-McLain® cast
iron boilers to last 35 years or more.
Sections are not face ground; the tough outer skin is
retained to protect against corrosion.
The sections are
studded with heat pins
that cause the hot
gases to swirl about,
scrubbing the entire
surface for greater heat
transfer and maximum
operating efficiency.
Section Seal
Modern elastomer sealing
rings in the port openings
assure a watertight seal.
Because of the elasticity
of the seals (unlike metal
push nipples), they
fill any gap caused by
imperfections in the port openings, misalignment of
sections, or expansion and contraction.
Combined with short draw rods, sealing rings also
permit faster section assembly. Lugs and sockets
assure proper section alignment during assembly;
the machined surfaces of the port openings control
the compression ratio of the rings.
Sealing Rope
Sealing rope between the sections assures a
permanent, gastight seal. When installed, the rope
is visible between sections so the boiler can be
checked for tightness. Sealing rope — a standard
feature of Weil-McLain® commercial boilers — allows
for expansion and contraction of the sections, is
impervious to heat and moisture, will not crack and
will last the life of the boiler.
Rear Cleaning
Removing the rear
jacket panel and steel
cleanout plates expose
the flue passages
for inspection and
cleaning.
Factory-Assembled Base and Burners
The insulated, galvanized steel base houses the
gas manifold and one-piece, high tempurature
aluminized steel burners. These burners
feature efficient performance, excellent flame
characteristics, and quiet ignition and extinction.
Burners provide fixed primary air — no adjustment
required for approved gases.
One burner/base assembly and one gas train are
furnished for the LGB™-4 through 12, and two each
for the LGB™-13 through 23.

FACTORY-ASSEMBLED GAS TRAIN:
The gas train allows for fast and easy installation. A slow-
opening, soft ignition, high capacity, combination gas
valve is used on the LGB™ 4-5 boilers.
LOW-HIGH-LOW FIRING:
LGB 6-23 boilers can provide low-high-low firing with the
addition of a water temperature or steam pressure control.
FACTORY-ASSEMBLED GAS TRAIN:
The gas train allows for fast and easy installation.
A dual gas valve train has an on/off diaphram
valve and a low-high-low regulated gas valve.
WFG FLAME GUARDIAN® CONTROL SYSTEM FEATURES:
A pre-wired WFG® control system consisting of a mounting plate, two Weil-McLain® UCS
control modules and terminal block are furnished as standard equipment with each base
assembly.
On a call for heat, the pilot proving control module provides a spark to ignite the pilot.
When the pilot flame is proven, the first stage of the two-stage gas valve opens and all
burners light on low fire. When the main flame sensor proves carryover, the second stage
of the gas valve opens and the burners go to high fire.
In the event the pilot or main flame is not proven during a timed trial for ignition, the
WFG® control system will provide 100% shutoff. After a timed 5-minute delay, another
ignition sequence will automatically be initiated. The control system provides multiple
ignition trials.
The control system design has been certified by AGA and all components are UL Listed.

ADDITIONAL COMBUSTION CONTROL SYSTEMS
CONTROL SYSTEM FEATURES:
A pre-wired control panel with one ignition control module, a manual reset
relay with indicator light and a terminal block are furnished as standard
equipment with each base assembly.
On a call for heat, the control module produces a spark to ignite the pilot.
When the pilot flame is proven, the combination gas valve opens with a built-in,
slow opening soft ignition.
Upon two consecutive pilot flame failures, the control module will trip the
manual reset relay and illuminate the red lockout light. The lockout condition(s)
should be corrected before pressing the red reset button to reset the boiler.
The control system has been certified by AGA and all components are UL
Listed.
CSD-1 SYSTEMS FOR LGB™ 6-20
CONTROL SYSTEM FEATURES:
A pre-wired control panel with one pilot-proving module, one main flame
proving module, a manual reset relay with indicator light and a terminal block
are furnished as standard equipment with each LGB™ 6-12 boiler. For LGB™ 13-
20, two pre-wired control panels are provided, one for each base.
On a call for heat, the pilot-proving module, one main flame proving module,
a manual reset relay with indicator light and a terminal block are furnished as
standard equipment with each LGB™ 6-12 boilers. For LGB™ 13-20, two pre-
wired control panels are provided, one for each base.
Upon two consecutive pilot flame failures or on failure to sense main flame, the
control module will trip the manual reset relay and illuminate the red lockout
light. The lockout condition(s) should be corrected before pressing the red
reset button to reset the boiler.
For LGB™ 13-20, the control systems for each base will operate independently
of each other.
The control system has been certified by AGA and all components are UL
Listed.
6
03/16/2019
CONTROL SYSTEM FEATURES:
A pre-wired WMBC™ control panel is furnished as standard equipment.
The gas train is located outside the boiler jacket.
On a call for heat, the pilot control circuit produces a spark and opens the pilot
solenoid allowing the pilot to ignite. For LGB™ 13-23, the universal ignition control then
produces a spark to ignite the pilot on the second base. After the pilot(s) has been proven, the
flame safeguard control energizes the main flame circuit allowing the main burners to ignite at
low fire. The main pilot is then de-energized and the main flame sensor proves the main burner
operation at low fire. For LGB™ 13-23, the pilot on the second base continues to burn during
the boiler “on” cycle. The flame safeguard control then energizes the downstream gas valve
allowing the boiler to fire at high fire.
If the pilot or main flame are not proven during the start-up sequence, then the flame safeguard
control will lock out on safety. A red indicator light and alarm bell will energize. The lockout
condition should be corrected and then the red reset button should be pressed to restart the
boiler. The control system will permit a normal start up after an automatic 5-minute delay.
The control system has been certified by AGA and all components are UL Listed.

pressure. Water ratings are based on piping and pickup allowance of 1.15.
Additional allowance should be made for gravity hot water systems or
unusual piping and pickup loads. Ratings shown are for elevations up to
2,000 feet. For ratings above 2,000 feet, reduce at rate of 4 percent per
1000 feet above sea level.
(4) Sling length is 5 feet; 2 per boiler.
(5) A twenty-foot (20') chimney height may be used in most cases, based
on using a six-foot (6') length of connector for breeching of the size
shown from the nearest draft hood outlet to the chimney or vent with
not more than one (1) standard sloping-type 90° elbow. Consult the
National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1, for actual sizing. If individual
vertical vents are to be used, each vent diameter should be the same
size as the respective draft hood outlet and the height may be reduced
to five feet (5') measured above the draft hood outlet.

CONTRACTOR SERIES
Installation Tips for Runtal Baseboard/Wallpanels
Roughing In: The rough in dimensions are the same for all 5 heights.
Tips:Always plan to pipe directly into the radiator. “U” shapes
should be avoided. Always check your piping scheme in
advance to be sure of clearance from joists, etc.
Piping: Each radiator may be piped eight different ways.
This should allow for the most efficient and most attractive installation.
Trim Covers: There are 2 types of standard trim covers: Vertical Covers and Horizontal Covers.
Please refer to Runtal’s “Radiator Trim Sheet” for complete information.
System: Runtal will work well in both High and Low temperature closed loop systems.
Tips:Use all of the K-12 brackets provided with each radiator.
Place 1 bracket 6” in from each end, and equally space the rest.
Mount bracket on studs whenever possible (use appropriate
method for non-stud mounting).
Mount radiators 3” from the floor for optimum efficiency, ease
of vacuuming, and proper trim cover fit. However a minimum
of 1” between radiator and finished floor is permissible.
Be sure to install leveling bolt (K-45) prior to piping radiator.
Tips:Piping should be kept to a minimum and should be planned to
match the standard trims.
Always install the air vent (included) opposite the supply side
of the radiator.
Be sure to properly seal the flush plugs (included) in the
unused fittings (3/8” and 3/16” hex wrenches required).
Be sure to leave room for piping inside corners. You will need
two to three inches plus working room, minimum.
Tips:Horizontal trims require a minimum of
2” overlap on the radiator for proper
fit.
It may be easier to purchase trims
after the radiators are installed, but
care should be taken to ensure that
all piping has been done with stan-
dard trim configurations in mind.
If you are unable to use standard
trims on an installation, please call for
custom trim options.
Tips: Always test the system with air at a maximum pressure of 50 PSI prior to wet testing.
Runtal baseboard may be used with fin-tube, but the fin-tube will perform better if the Runtal is at the end of the loop.
Runtal is compatible with cast iron baseboard and cast iron radiators.
In series installation: an individual loop should not exceed 30,000 Btuh or 7 radiators.
Vertical Covers: These come standard in 3”
and 10” heights and are designed to cover
straight vertical pipe between the radiator
and the floor. They can be easily field cut
for heights other than 3” and 10”.
Horizontal Covers: Standard trims simply
snap into place. Straight Trims (used as
End Trims & Center Trims) are 12” long.
Inside Corners are 12” x 12” and End Cap
Trims are either 6” x 2” (right hand) or 2”
x 6” (left hand).
Outside Corner
Trims and other
special trims are
readily available
on request.
Mounting: The mounting system is identical on all 5 heights.

whole building ERV that requires connecting to the Central HVAC
System.
Ideal for: Home Office / Game Rooms / Family Rooms / Bonus
Rooms
This is an affordable way to add ERV to a specific room or a new
addition.
Whole House ERV
WhisperComfort is also suitable to meet whole house ventilation
requirements under ASHRAE 62.2. WhisperComfort is an ideal
choice when partnered with mini-splits or VRF Heat Pumps for
fresh, balanced air with energy recovery which makes it a very
affordable, cost-effective IAQ solution. The sizing charts on the
next page provide a guideline for number of bedrooms and square
feet. Additionally, two or even three WhisperComfort ERV’s may be
installed, often at a cost lower than a traditional whole house ERV.
Ideal for: Condominiums / Apartments / Housing Authority
properties / Hotels / Studio apartments
ASHRAE 62.2 2010 Standard
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning
Engineers (ASHRAE) set a standard for whole house ventilation,
requiring that continuous mechanical ventilation be 7.5 CFM per
bedroom (master bedroom X 2) plus 1 CFM per 100 square feet, with
sone not to exceed 1.0. ASHRAE 62.2-2013 requires a ventilation
rate of 7.5 CFM per person plus 3 CFM per 100 square feet.
Please check with your local code to determine which ventilation
standard you should follow. Panasonic WhisperComfort ERV is an
affordable, efficient way to meet the ASHRAE 62.2 standard.
FEATURES
Balanced Ventilation
Tightly built homes and buildings utilizing exhaust only fans can
create negative pressure. WhisperComfort solves this by supplying
air to replace exhausted air, helping to balance air pressure within
the home.
Panasonic WhisperComfort Spot ERV uses two 4 inch ducts – one
to exhaust stale air and the other to supply fresh air from outdoors.
Its low, continuous run ensures volatile organic compounds (VOC’s)
are vented out and replaced with fresh air.
WhisperComfort does not require connection to the Central HVAC
or the addition of a condensation line. This 'Spot' ERV feature
allows it to be installed in many places throughout the home to
meet comfort, health and IAQ needs.
Exchange Capillary Core
Indoor and outdoor air passes through Panasonic’s patented capillary
core technology designed to transfer heat energy and moisture.
This process tempers supply air while transferring moisture.
Motor Technology
Panasonic uses a single AC condenser motor to run two highly
efficient blower wheels. The motor is totally enclosed to ensure
long-life and continuous quiet operation.
Filters
Two filters clean exhaust and supply air before passing through
the ERV core, extending the life of the core.
Grille Design
The contemporary, low profile grille design incorporates spring
clips for easy removal.
Spot ERV
WhisperComfort is a ceiling or wall-mount Energy Recovery
Ventilator (ERV) that is ideal for a single large, open space room or
for multistory homes' hallways. Two or even three WhisperComfort
ERV's may be installed, often at a cost lower than a traditional

Frost Prevention Mode
WhisperComfort incorporates built-in frost prevention technology
to avoid core freeze up.
• Above 32ºF both exhaust and supply are fully functional
• From 32ºF to 20ºF the mechanical damper on the supply air
closes for 30 minutes, then opens 1 hour at the set high/
low mode. The cycle repeats itself to avoid core freeze up.
(Exhaust only 30 minutes per 90-minute cycle)
• Below 20ºF the mechanical damper on the supply air remains
closed for 1 hour and opens 10 minutes at low mode. After
10 minutes the cycle will repeat or change if the temperature
has risen above 20ºF. (Exhaust only 60 minutes per 80-minute
cycle)
Settings
WhisperComfort has two 2-speed CFM settings
High Low __________________________________________________
Setting 1. 20 CFM 10 CFM
Setting 2. 40 CFM 20 CFM factory preset
The factory setting is 40/20 CFM. To change to optional 20/10
CFM setting, move the plug connector located in the junction box
to the 20 CFM side of receptacle. This step must be completed
prior to installation.
Switches
WhisperComfort operates in an on/off and high/low mode. When
the switch is turned off, the unit does not operate. When the switch
is turned on, the unit will operate at the high or low mode. A duplex
switch, designed for a single gang box, may be selected for switch
operation. Switch labels are provided for convenience to attach to
the selected switches.
Panasonic offers the FV-WCSW21-W/A(White/Almond) 2 function
switch as part of the WhisperControl product
line. This commercial grade on/off multiswitch
can be used with the ERV, includes a designer
wall plate and carries a 2-year limited warranty.
