To Remain
1. All Discrepancies Should Be Reported To The Landscape Architect.
2. Locate All Utilities Before Digging.
3. All Areas Shown Are Approximate Only. Verification Of Areas To Be Revegetated Shall Occur On Site Between
The Contractor and Landscape Contractor.
4. Grades Are To Be Checked And Approved By The Contractor Before Installation Of Plant Material.
5. Location Of Plant Material Is To Be Approved By The Contracor Before Installation.
6. Quality Of Plant Material Is To Be Approved By The Contractor Before Installation.
7. All Planted Areas To Be Covered With Mini Pine Bark Nuggets Only (No Debris Mixed In). Mulch To Be A
Minimum Depth Of 4". Mulch To Be Applied To Soil Surface Only, Not Against Stems Or Tree Trunk Base.
8. Planting Beds Are To Contain "Pre-mixed" Planting Mixture To A Minimum Depth Of 12"
9. All Planting Beds Are To Be Contained By 4" Metal Edging.
10. Irrigate All Disturbed Areas With An Automatic Irrigation System.

12. All Plerennials Are To Be Layed Out With Uniform Spacing. Layout To Be Approved By Contractor Prior To
Installation.
13. Contractor To Provide & Install Drainage And Irrigation/ Lighting Sleeves As Needed For All Planting Areas.
Planting Notes
1) Amendment shall be tilled to a minimum depth of six inches (6”).
2) Site shall be graded to within two-tenths of a foot (2/10th’) of the grading plan.
3) Site shall be free of rocks and debris over one inch (1”) diameter in size. Rocks and debris 0.5 inch (0.5”)
to one inch (1”) shall not exceed 5 percent (5%) by volume and gravel 0.6 inch (0.6”) to 1.25 inches (1.25”)
shall not exceed 5 percent (5%) by volume.
Particles such as concrete, brick, glass, metal, wood or plastic greater than one inch (1”) shall not be allowed.
The total volume of these materials smaller than one inch (1”) shall not exceed 5 percent (5%).
4) Site shall be free of dirt clods over three-quarter inch (3/4”) diameter in size. Dryland seed areas may
contain dirt clods up to two inch (2”) diameter in size.
5) Stockpiling - Stripping and stockpiling of indigenous soil (topsoil) shall be required during construction
(except as waived by the City of Aspen). The replacement of this soil, plus additional soil amendments,
are critical to successful plant material establishment, ongoing health, and efficient use of water
through the life of the project.
6) The soil shall have no herbicides, heavy metals, biological toxins or hydrocarbons that impact plant growth
or exceed the EPA’s standards for soil contaminant.
7) All applicable soil criteria and standards shall be noted on the landscape design plan. Written verification
of approved soil amendment type and volume is required.
Projects with inadequate soil amendment and preparation will not be approved.
8) Removing sod and amending soil under protected trees requires hand grubbing no deeper than 4". Any
additional soil above existing grade limited to a maximum 3".
9)All irrigation work performed under protected treesrequires hand grubbing no deeper than 4".

Hydrozones
1) Topsoil of irrigated grasses (including turf), shrubs, perennials, and annuals shall be a sandy loam
to a depth of at least 6 inches (6”) containing at least 5 percent (5%) organic matter by volume.
2) Tree soil must be a sandy loam and 36" deep for areas where trees are planted. The total soil depth shale have
at least 1%-3% organic matter by volume. If in turf, topsoil should be 6" and have 5% organic matter by volume.
In good existing soils, dig and turn the soils to three times the dimension of the root ball. Hard or compacted subsoil
or lower soil layers should be broken up to create adaquate drainage and avoid trapping water creating saturated
and anaerobic conditions in the upper soil layer. In newly developed planting sites, soil depth shall be 20' diamter
around the trees to a depth of 36".
3) Soil amendment organic matter shall consist of either Class I and Class II compost.

As per WELS Section
5.2.8, list the valves to
serve each hydrozone
area, for example: H
Zone A- Valve A3, A8,
A13, etc.
If this is proposed to be an actual
planted and irrigated "green roof",
please provide more information,
including but not limited to: exact
locations, planting plan/list,
hydrozone designation, provisions
for irrigation, etc.
The scientific name for Narrowleaf
Cottonwood is Populus
angustifolia. The City Forester has
determined that P. trichocarpa is
not appropriate for the City ROW.
Revise all plans and calculations
accordingly. P. angustifolia is a
medium water-use plant.

IRRIGATION NOTES:
1.All work shall be per existing county or state code and is subject to
inspection and approval by appropriate inspectors and/or owner
representative. Installer to be responsible for all installation standards,
practices and all permit requirements.
2. Greg Mozian & Associates have provided all base and planting
information. Any discrepancies between said information and these
irrigation plans shall be their responsibility. The installer will assume all
costs and liabilities associated with any and all field changes to the
system design.
3.The system is designed to operate from the source with a flow of 20
gallons per minute (GPM) at 75 pounds per square inch (PSI) at the
point of connection. Unless otherwise noted on the plans, source flow
and pressure are the responsibility of others.
4.All pipe to be sleeved wherever concrete, asphalt, or any hard surfaces
are to be overlaid. All sleeves to be 2 times the diameter of the pipe to
be sleeved. Main line sleeves to have an additional 4" inch sleeve in
parallel for control wires.
5.Irrigation plan is a diagrammatic single line drawing. Any components
shown on plan outside of landscape are shown for clarity only. Multiple
pipes may be installed in the same trench when proper pipe spacing
can be maintained.
6.Main line to be buried 24" (inch) to top of pipe.
7.Control wires to be routed with main line and attached at 24"
increments with plastic wire ties or duct tape. Wire splices to be
located in a 10" (inch) round or larger valve box at least.
8.Swing pipe to be used on all sprinkler heads under 6 GPM and swing
joints on all heads over 6 GPM. Maximum length of swing pipe to be 5'
(foot).
9.Isolation valves to be located in 10" (inch) round valve box or larger.
10.For obstructions (Electrical Transformers, Trees, Fire Hydrants, etc...),
that will interfere with proper coverage of sprinkler heads, will require
the addition of properly patterned heads around obstruction as to
provide head to head coverage to all irrigated areas.
11.Sprinkler heads to be set perpendicular to finished grade and adjusted
to prevent over spray onto non irrigated areas.
12.Laterals are sized at transitions only, segments that are not noted will
be the same size as adjacent segments. Up stream segments will never
be smaller than any down stream segments on the same lateral.
13.Installer to submit two (2) soil samples from each of the amended areas
where installation of sub-surface drip is to be installed under turf grass.
Samples to be sent to Irrigation Designer for analysis and approval
prior to installation of sub-surface tubing and equipment to verify the
and application criteria are met. Failure of submittal could warrant
tubing replacement at installer's expense to pass audit requirements.
14.Project is designed to meet City of Aspen Water Efficient Landscaping
Standards adopted by Ordinance #17 series 2018. These standards
require a post installation inspection by the Certified Irrigation Designer
(CID) and an irrigation audit by a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor
(CLIA) as part of the approval letter process. Changes and variances to
the design must be approved by the Certified Irrigation Designer (CID)
prior to installation, unapproved changes may warrant failure of
inspection, corrections will be at installer's expense.
15.All irrigation work performed within the drip line of existing trees
requires hand grubbing no deeper than six inches (6") and must be as
far from tree trunk as practically possible. Do not cut roots larger than
four inches (4") in diameter.
