Shrinkage Characteristics: This is a natural product and will shrink or swell depending on climate. Western Red Cedar has excellent dimensional stability due the low wood density and low shrinkage factor compared to other species. II. Packaging/Storage: All materials will arrive in paper wrapped units. Store materials in a safe area, away from construction traffic. Once the material is received and put in the area which it will be stored to acclimate, remove the crating to help with the acclimation process. Acclimation procedures: Always keep the wood dry and stored indoors, ideally in a climate controlled environment. Stack the siding off the ground and under cover. If the wood is to be stored over damp concrete, place a moisture barrier under the siding. Siding should be 102-152mm above the ground with air circulating freely around and throughout the stack. The material will typically ship with 04/11/2019 Koru 223 E Hallam Vendor Supplied Cedar Specifications a moisture content of 7-14%. Once the material has acclimated for 2 weeks it will be ready to install. III. Handling: This material is extremely fragile. Once the material has acclimated limit the steps needed to install. Ideally it will go from the unit right on to the wall. Additional handling will lead to damage and possible shortage in materials. 04/11/2019
