On 2/18/22,David Coon,Aspen City Forester assessed the 10"spruce tree in the right-of-way at the SW corner of the property being requested for removal for the waterproofing and drainage project at 1010 E Hyman Ave.Trees to be retained will be protected per the specifications of this permit and the tree protection zone fencing will be approved by the City forester prior to being set up and breaking of ground.Dripline(s)that must be accessed due to space constraints must be mulched with 6"of mulch with plywood to minimize compaction of roots.See attachments.the applicant will need to submit a shoring plan to the Parks department for final approval of the limits of excavation in tree driplines.The applicant will be responsible for obtaining proper permission to impact neighbor's trees which have driplines extending over the property boundary.READ THE ATTACHMENTS TO THIS PERMIT FOR WATERING REQUIREMENTS FOR TREES. The tree approved for removal have been assigned a value using a standard formula developed for all trees found within the City of Aspen.The formula is as follows: Value=$46.00 x 3.14 x(D/2)2,where D is the diameter of the tree at breast height.The total mitigation value assessed for the tree to be removed is$3,611.00.One (1)2.5-3"caliper narrowleaf cottonwood tree will be planted in place of the removed spruce in the right-of-way at an allowed and agreed upon cost of$1,000.00.The total mitigation owed is thus$2,611.00.This amount must be paid the City of Aspen cash in lieu prior to the release of this permit. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL:As stated above,the applicant will need to submit a shoring plan to the Parks department for final approval of the limits of excavation in tree driplines.Trees may not be removed until the associated building permit has been issued and up-to-date stamped tree permit submittal documents have been approved by the City Forester and stamped by the Building Dept.All subsequent rounds of reviews and change orders must be reviewed by the City Forester.
