HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.104-25RESOLUTION NO.104 (Series of 2025) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, SETTING FORTH UPCOMING STEPS RELATED TO THE ENTRANCE TO ASPEN AND DIRECTING STAFF TO PURSUE A RE-EVALUATION OF THE 1998 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT AND RECORD OF DECISION. WHEREAS, on September 10, 2024, City Council approved Resolution 113, Series 2024, which set specific direction on the efforts of the City related to the existing Castle Creek Bridge and the Entrance to Aspen, including directing staff to begin work as soon as possible on a new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS); WHEREAS, the City Council at a work session on July 7, 2025, indicated that staff should instead pursue a Re -Evaluation of the Environmental Impact Statement and its 1998 Record of Decision following the regulations of the National Environmental Policy Act to evaluate whether it remains valid; WHEREAS, this Resolution is submitted to City Council for consideration pursuant to that direction. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, THAT: 1. City Council hereby directs staff to begin work as soon as is possible on a Re-evaluation of the 1998 Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision.
