REMOVALS AND PRESERVATION NOTES

UNITE THE ARCHITECTURAL INTERIORS THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLEXIBLE EXTERIOR LIVING SPACES AND
PATHS HELD CLOSE TO THE HOME;
CREATE MORE WELCOMING ENTRY EXPERIENCES BY ESTABLISHING A CLEAR HIERARCHY IN THE HARDSCAPE,
REINFORCED BY LIGHTING AND PLANTING GESTURES;
MAINTAIN THE GARDEN CHARACTER OF THE DITCH LINE USING HARDY PERENNIALS;
INCORPORATE A DISTILLED PALETTE OF WARM, NATURAL MATERIALS DETAILED IN CLEAN, MODERN APPLICATIONS;
ENHANCE THE WINTERTIME AMBIENCE THROUGH INCORPORATION OF LIGHTING AND SCULPTURAL PLANTINGS.
THE PROPOSED LANDSCAPE PUSHES ITS GARDENS OUTWARD TO THE STREET WHILE HOLDING LAWN, PAVEMENT, AND
DWELLING SPACES CLOSER TO THE ARCHITECTURE. THE DEFINING FEATURE OF THE LANDSCAPE BECOMES THE “CHANNEL
GARDEN” THAT ENVELOPS THE PERIMETER OF THE DWELLING. THICKENING THE MOVEMENT OF NATURALIZED PLANTINGS AT
THE BORDER OF THE PROPERTY SERVES TO DIRECT VISITORS TO THE TRUE FRONT DOOR AND ALSO ENGAGES THE UPPER
STORY LIVING SPACES PROVIDING VIEWS OF THE CHANNEL GARDEN FROM ABOVE.
THE LANDSCAPE ADJACENT TO THE HOUSE IS COMPOSED OF RECTANGULAR PLINTHS OF LAWN AND PAVEMENT. PROPOSED
SHRUBS AND TREES LEND DEFINITION TO THE PROPERTY PARTICULARLY IN THE WINTER MONTHS WHILE ALSO PROVIDING A
TRANSITION IN SCALE FROM THE LARGE COTTONWOODS ALONG THE STREET. A FEW KEY PLANTING AREAS DRAW ON THE
COLORS AND TEXTURES OF THE CHANNEL GARDEN FOR AN OVERALL SENSE OF UNITY WITHIN THE LANDSCAPE. A
RESTRAINED MATERIALS PALETTE WILL EXHIBIT A NATURAL, TEXTURAL CHARACTER OF WARMTH WITHIN A MODERN
FRAMEWORK.
