APPLICATION SUMMARY
Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) ABUTTING
Intumescent Fire Resistive Material (IFRM)
ON THE SAME STRUCTURAL MEMBER
Application Procedures.
➢ Apply adhesive tape to structural beam or column to delineate overlap point
(optional).
➢ Apply CAFCO® SFRM in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL)
fire resistive design and Isolatek International Application & Installation Manual.
➢ Allow CAFCO SFRM to dry until moisture ceases to leak onto tape (optional).
➢ Remove tape if utilized.
➢ Square the edge of the CAFCO SFRM using a saw, knife, or similar tool.
➢ Clean the remaining steel and prep in accordance with Isolatek International
Application & Installation Manual for the CAFCO IFRM to be applied.
➢ Apply the CAFCO IFRM in accordance with the UL fire resistive design and
Isolatek International Application & Installation Manual.
➢ Overlap a minimum of 2" of one coat of the CAFCO IFRM onto the CAFCO
SFRM
This method of application is not UL-tested and must be submitted for approval by
the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Application is based on internal small-scale
testing only.
