The purpose of this memorandum is to summarize the methodology and results of
RFE's hydraulic headloss model pertaining to the available fire suppression flow for 134
E Bleeker St, Aspen CO.
Relevant Fire Protection Calculation information was provided to RFE containing the
residual pressure, system flow demand, and required pressure at the residence. RFE's
model considers the geometry and sizing of the water service pipe as well as the above-
mentioned parameters provided by the Fire Protection Calculations and calculates the
total headloss due to friction.
A 1.5in Copper Type K pipe was tested given a required flow rate of 42.73 gpm and a
residual pressure of 110 psi. The resulting total frictional headloss subtracted from the
residual pressure is more than the required pressure at the residence. This indicates
that a 1.5in diameter water service line is sufficient to supply the necessary pressure to
the residence.
