REGULAR MEETING COMMERCIAL CORE & LODGING COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 17, 2025
Chairperson Wang opened the meeting at 8:40 a.m.
Present were Angi Wang, Stephanie Davis, Amanda Tanaka, Noemi Kiss-Baldwin, Charles Cunniffe, Terry
Butler, Jeb Ball, Kiki Raj.
Staff present were Nicole Henning, City Clerk and Emmy Oliver, Downtown Services
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS:
The board asked about Bill Dinsmoor and asked Ms. Henning to find out where he is currently located
because they would like to send a card.
Mr. Cunniffe gave an update on the airport.
Mr. Cunniffe motioned to approve the minutes of June 11th; Ms. Raj seconded. All in favor, motion
carried.
Ms. Wang mentioned the Saturday market and asked if everyone read the update provided by Kathy
and mentioned the thefts. Ms. Henning told them the thefts are not followed up by the police. The
vendors are just aware of it and report it to Kathy.
BEAR PRESENTATION WITH LARA XAIZ, Wildlife Coordinator:
Ms. Xaiz said her position was created two years ago and the police handled these calls previously which
she handled when she was in the police department. She said she begins every day at 6 a.m. to patrol
and tries to get through town before the trash trucks and alley trucks come through. She cited some
Municipal Code items that make it hard with bear mitigation. She mentioned that recycling does not
currently need to be locked down like the regular trash bins. Last year 53% of all intrusions were
through recycling.
She said this year they have a pretty good food source, so we haven’t had a lot of break ins.
They are loading up right now to go into hibernation eating about 20,000 calories a year.
If someone has a bear issue, they should call the 920-BEAR number. From there you can be connected
with dispatch, leave a message or get connected to CPW. If you’re on Red Mountain, that is the Roaring
Fork Bear Commission.
FUTURE OF CCLC:
Ms. Wang asked the board how they feel and what they would like to do for future meetings. They
agreed that going to one meeting a month (first meeting of the month) is a good idea for the time being
and during the Saturday market, they can have their regular two meetings a month. Mr. Cunniffe
motioned for the first meeting of the month; Ms. Tanaka seconded. All in favor motion carried.
Ms. Raj motioned to adjourn; Mr. Ball seconded. All in favor, motion carried.
