Date: August 7, 2020 Pages Including Cover: 2 re: Existing house shoring and relocation process Cc: Comments: The general sequence that we discussed on site to get the new foundation poured and the existing building placed on it was as follows: 1. Survey the site 2. Clear and grub the perimeter of the site 3. Demolish all of the finishes on the interior including drywall and entry level floor framing 4. Protect existing wall framing with sheathing 5. Install LVL’s on each side of the bearing walls to help transfer the weight of the existing building on to temporary steel beams 6. Install a micropile shoring walls along the east, south, and west property lines including bearing points to support temporary steel beams which will support the existing building. Along the west side, the wall will only be located from grids 1 to 3 at this stage. 7. Build cribbing on west side between grids 3 and 5 of the addition at each temporary beam support location. 8. Place the temporary beams below the existing buildings. Per Bill Bailey, the beams will be pairs of W18x55’s that are welded together. The quantity of beam pairs and specific location will be determined in the field. 6x6 steel beams placed on top of and perpendicular to the pairs of W18 beams. The spacing of the 6x6 beams is to be determined in the field. 9. Separate the addition from the Victorian. Memorandum Page 2 of 2 10. Lift the addition and move it to the east as far as possible on site to allow for the micropile drilling rig to fit along the west side. Complete the shoring wall along the west side. 11. Transfer the support of the temporary beams for the addition on the west side from the cribbing on to the micropile shoring wall and remove cribbing 12. Lift the Victorian and garage buildings to approximately six feet above their current elevation. 13. Excavate the basement and crawlspace area, accessing from the north (alley) side of the property 14. Install footings 15. Install foundation walls 16. Install lower floor including slab on deck 17. Install entry level framing including slab on deck and curb 18. Partially backfill between shoring walls and new foundation walls 19. Move existing building back into original location and lower on to new structure.
