The outline is a comprehensive accounting of measures relevant to the award. Purging of faux historic elements - a. Removal of 1980’s heavy newels, hand and guardrails from the front steps. b. Removal of historic column from non-historic addition‘s back porch c. Clarifying the relationship between the non-historic addition and the historic fabric via new window openings with exaggerated, non-historic proportions at the addition. d. 100% removal of non-historic side porch. e. Removal and replacement of all contemporary casement windows within the historic fabric. Restoration of front yard landscape - f. The historical landscape was a simple lawn with lilacs at the edges. This will be restored. The front yard will resemble the reference images from the 1970’s and be unrecognizable from its borderline, overgrown state today. Agreeing to all suggestions from City Staff and Amy which include - g. Using wood shake shingle roofing system in place of asphalt shingles. h. Eliminating the carriage lamp at the front door. i. Converting fixed door #104 at the east elevation to a window opening pending final framing research. j. Providing a wood option for the front handrail. k. Restoration of a very fancy historic back door. Most likely this was a re-purposed front door. We will replace inappropriate plastic sidelights with authentic colored glass and replace central panel with clear glass. Door will remain in a wood finish. 125 W.
