Re: Public Hearing—134 East Bleeker Street
Dear Commission Members:
The Aspen Community Church, 200 East Bleeker, is opposed to granting a reduction in the
number of parking spaces at 134 East Bleeker. Due to constraints resulting from the width of
the historic barn we do not oppose reducing the size of one parking space. However, we feel
that an additional full size space can be accommodated to the west of the historic barn. We
would also encourage use of the approved spaces as many on-site parking spaces are utilized
for other purposes.
As a neighbor directly across Aspen Street we are aware of the acute shortage of on-street
parking as a result of overflow parking from the commercial core and community activities in
the neighborhood. We applaud the elimination of the curb cut on South Aspen.
We also feel that the original roof pitch and height of the new addition is more pleasing and
compatible even though the pitch is flatter than the historic structure. In the recent
amendment the increased height dominates and detracts from the historic structures.
Sincerely,
Aspen Community Church Board of Trustees
