Special Events Tent Approved via Council Resolution No. 128, Series 2022 This tent is 3,960 sq. ft. Locations of two proposed tents. Each tent is approximately 200 sq. ft. Temporary/Seasonal Uses When considering a development application for a temporary use, City Council shall consider the following: Location, size, design, operating characteristics and visual impacts of the proposed use. The relation of the temporary use to conditions and character changes w hich may have occurred in the area and zone district in which the use is proposed. Permitted uses in the Lodge (L) zone district: Accessory uses and structures. (Food service for on-site lodge guests is an accessory use.) Staff finds these criteria to be met. Commercial Design Review Mountain Base Character Area Standards Place building into the topography to minimize visual impacts from downtown and to reinforce a strong relationship to the mountain. Staff finds this criterion to be met. Commercial Design Review General Standards Building materials shall have these features: •Convey the quality and range of materials found in the current block context or seen historically in the Character Area. •Be non-reflective. Shiny or glossy materials are not appropriate as a primary material. •Have proven durability and weathering characteristics within Aspen’s climate. Staff finds this criterion to be met. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends approval of Resolution #158, Series of 2023 subject to the conditions set forth in the resolution. Staff supports approval of the two additional tents in the Fountain Courtyard for up to 40 days/year for 4 years (winter 2023-2024 through winter 2026-2027).
