SCALE: 1/4" = 1'-0"1 HISTORIC RESOURCE ROOF PLAN
SCALE: 1/2" = 1'-0"2 SECTION D - PROPOSED
AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND DISCUSSIONS WITH QUALIFIED
ROOFERS, THE CONCENSUS IS THE ROOF MUST BE METAL OR
MEMBRANE. NONE OF THE ROOFERS WILL WARRANTY A WOOD
SHINGLE ROOF AT THE LOW PITCH OF THE PORCH ROOF. A
MEMBRANE ROOF WILL LOOK OUT OF CONTEXT WITH THE HISTORIC
HOUSE. STANDING SEAM, AS PICTURED BELOW, WILL BE THE MOST
FITTING. TO BE A NON-REFLECTIVE FLAT FINISH.
NEW STANDING SEAM ROOF WILL
HARDLY BE VISIBLE FROM STREET
AFTER REVIEWING THE CONNECTION OF THE ROOF DECK AND THE HISTORIC ROOF, WE
PROPOSE A MUCH SMALLER CRICKET/GUTTER ALONG THE EVE OF THE RESOURCE. IT IS IN
THE BEST INTEREST OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCE TO COLLECT AND REMOVE THE WATER
FROM THE HISTORIC ROOF BEFORE IT GATHERS ON THE ROOF DECK.
THE GREATLY REDUCED CRICKET WILL NOT BE VISIBLE FROM THE STREET WHATSOEVER.
THE CRICKET BECOMES MUCH LIKE A GUTTER AND WILL BE LOW PROFILE.
THE HISTORIC ROOF STRUCTURE CAN BE PRESERVED, NO EXISTING ROOF TRUSSES WILL BE
REBUILT OR DAMAGED.
9" TALL CURB REQUIRED TO DIVERT WATER AWAY
GLASS RAILING NO LONGER FEASIBLE AT
CONNECTION. WITH THE LARGER CRICKET,
SNOW WILL PILE AGAINS THE GLASS.
THEREFORE A NON-SOLID RAILING IS
REQUIRED. CABLE RAILING IS INSTALLED
PAST THE EVE OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCE
