Lighting Plan Comment: 10.8.20
The Gorsuch House project will be expected to comply with all City of Aspen exterior Lighting
regulations found in section 26.575.150.E, Nonresidential Lighting Standards, of the Land Use Code. This
includes no “linear lights” used as exterior accents in coves or under furniture or trim. Also, all exterior
fixtures must either use a frosted lens so that no point light source is seen, or if the light fixture is more
than 12’ above the surrounding ground surface, it must be a fully shielded fixture. This includes hanging
“chandelier" fixtures that might be installed in vaulted exterior spaces. Additionally, the exterior lighting
Code also addresses specific lighting restrictions for “security” lighting. If any light fixture is planned for
this project that does not meet these exterior lighting rules, then that fixture should be included in the
detailed plans submitted as art of the final Planned Development application.
