On 12/1/21, David Coon, Aspen City Forester assessed the trees being requested for removal at 701 Gibson Ave. per the Tree Removal and Tree Protection Plan L.2.003 dated 10/13/21. Trees to be retained will be protected the above referenced plans and per the specifications of this permit and the tree protection zone fencing will be approved by the City forester prior to being set up and breaking of ground. Dripline(s) that must be accessed due to space constraints must be mulched with 6” of mulch with plywood to minimize compaction of roots. See attachments. The applicant will air-spade at all limits of excavation within tree driplines prior to digging. Once roots are exposed the City Forester will inspect and determine whether additional treatments will be required for retained trees such as Paclobutryzol or fertilizations/ supplemental waterings. READ THE ATTACHMENTS TO THIS PERMIT FOR WATERING REQUIREMENTS FOR TREES. The trees approved for removal have been assigned a value using a standard formula developed for all trees found within the City of Aspen. The formula is as follows: Value=$46.00 x 3.14 x (D/2)2, where D is the diameter of the tree at breast height. The total mitigation value assessed for the trees to be removed is $13,902.35 30 aspen trees will be planted on the property per the estimate on the Tree Removal and Tree Protection Plan L.2.003 dated 10/13/21 at an allowed cost of $18,350.00. The total mitigation currently due is thus $0.00. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: Trees may not be removed until the associated building permit has been issued and up-to-date stamped tree permit submittal documents have been approved by the City Forester and stamped by the Building Dept.
