[SMI]: 90.MECH equipment.701Gibson.20220328 90.MECH drawings.701Gibson.20220328 [M-0 THRU M-6] Comment Sheet M2: Is any of this mechanical system providing outdoor air into the building? A full gut interior remodel exceeding 1500 sq.ft. triggers compliant whole house ventilation installation. Provide calculation of the required minimum ventilation rate (see attached ventilation calculator for assistance if needed) and provide a plan that demonstrates compliance. Show all existing/proposed intake and exhaust locations for mechanical systems to demonstrate compliance with the IMC. SMI Response: The ERV will provide outdoor air into the building and the calculation for the required rate is provided on M1. Comment Sheet M6: Revise the mechanical design criteria to align with Aspen's adopted IRC/IECC requirements: --Winter indoor temp may not be above 72 deg F (2015 IECC R302.1) --Winter indoor temp may not be below 68 deg F (2015 IRC R303.8) --Summer indoor temp may not be below 75 deg F (2015 IECC R302.1) --Summer outdoor design temp: 82 deg F (Ordinance 40, 2016) --Winter outdoor design temp: -15 deg F (Ordinance 40, 2016) SMI Response: The design conditions must be based off of a regional weather station for the most accurate performance results. The nearest location to Aspen is the Eagle airport which provides more demanding conditions for the equipment other than the winter outdoor design temp. The colder winter outdoor temperature will slightly lower the heating performance, but this has been accounted for by adding electric duct heaters to the respective fan coils that will be calling for heating. You need to be using our adopted design criteria for the mechanical design, you do not get to design the system on local parameters you choose. Original comment still applies.
