The fabrication will be a free-standing, self-supporting vessel. It's intended to be lifted and supported from the bottom unless otherwise specifically noted. Install the fabrication on a hard, level, smooth surface. 2. A concrete slab works best. A filled spa can weigh 4,0001bs or more. 3. Do not Backfill earth against the spa. If installed in-ground build a vault to place it in. 4. Spa can be shimmed to make level. Contractor would provide shims. Do not shim more than%" Water: 1. Any finished areas below the spa must be water proofed prior to spa installation. 2. The spa vault must include a drain to waste or daylight 3. Provide a means to fill the spa (typically a hose-bib) 4. Consider the spa will typically be emptied via a sump pump 3 or 4 times per year. Electrical: 1. Not all of our spas are listed products. Please inquire if this is required. 2. The spa and equipment arrive prewired. Only power supply is required. 3. A spa with self-contained equipment can be shipped with a IAPMO-EGS label for UL standard 1750 4. An equipment assembly can be shipped with IAPMO-EGS label for UL standard 1563 5. Code requires a disconnect/shunt located between 5ft and 50ft from spa within site of spa. This could be a sub- panel with a main disconnect. Or it might be a dedicated disconnect. 6. Provide GFCI power supply for anything 60amps or less. Greater than 60amp does not require GFCI. 7. Spa must be bonded to equipment. Spa, equipment, and all metal objects within 4ft of spa must be bonded to a common ground. Refer to NEC—680 and local codes. Access: Access to the back side of the spa to repair a jet or pipe if needed. 1. lift the whole spa out of the ground (use top-mount lifting rings) 2. Provide removable panels on outside of spa 3. Provide access space for a person to crawl around. We think you need 18" to do this. 4. Don't install jets or piping in areas that can't be accessed. Equipment. 1. If equipment is located remotely, it should be within 30ft of the spa and 18" or more below top of spa. 2. If Equipment is contained within the spa, provide full height access, 30" wide along one side of the spa. Planning Check-list: Consider and report to us: 1. Check your Local Codes—Electrical, Spa Codes, Sound, Fencing, etc... DOES SPA REQUIRE A LISTING LABEL? 2. Available utilities—Electrical, Gas, Water, Waste water 3. Site access—How you plan to move the spa around 4. Structural support—Is the spa on a floor or on a frame 5. Site planning and layout—Are there are certain views or obstacles to be aware of 6. Architectural finishes on outside or surrounding the spa—What does it look like when finished 7. Spa entry and exit—How do people enter and exit the spa 8. Cover storage—Is there a place to store the cover RECEIVED 01/18/2022 ASPEN BUILDING DEPARTMENT 961.0 / BY OTHERS BY BST BY OTHERS BY➢SI BY OTHERS BY OSI r'C 1.-4. r r 1.-4. 5 Y 1.-4.
