SNOWMELT SYSTEM AND EQUIPMENT MANDATORY REQ’S.
All snowmelt systems shall meet the following:
-Any portions in the Right of Way must be on a separate zone. A ROW
permit and Permanent Encroachment License are required.
-R10 insulation shall be installed under the area to be snow melted (City
of Aspen Policy)
-Automatic controls installed for system shut off when pavement
temperature is above 50°F and no precipitation is falling. (2015 IECC
Sec. C403.2.4.5 & R403.9)
-Automatic or manual controls installed for system shut off when outdoor
temperature is above 40°F. (2015 IECC Sec. C403.2.4.5 & R403.9)
-Inspection by testing hydrostatically at 1½ times max system design
pressure, but not less than 100psi, for 15minutes. (2015 IMC Sec.
1208.1)
