A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,
SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF ASPEN A CERTAIN
QUESTION RELATING TO THE ALIGNMENT OF STATE HIGHWAY 82 AT THE
ENTRANCE TO ASPEN AT THE NOVEMBER 5, 2002, SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION, AND SETTING SUCH BALLOT TITLE AND QUESTION.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to ask the electors of the City of Aspen
whether State Highway 82 at the entrance to Aspen should be constructed over the City-
owned Marolt and Thomas properties or left on its current alignment through the "S"
curves; and
WHEREAS, Section 5.7 of the City of Aspen Home Rule Charter grants to the City
Council the authority to submit any question to a vote of the people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1.
The following question shall be placed on the ballot at the City's special election to
be held on November 5, 2002.
STATE HIGHWAY 82 ALIGNMENT AT THE ENTRANCE TO ASPEN
Which alignment for the Entrance to Aspen do you prefer? (Choose only one.)
"S" Curves (existing alignment); or
Modified Direct alignment across the Marolt/Thomas property.
