He was active with the Colorado Search and Rescue Board representing Mountain Rescue/Aspen at most meetings and serving as the state training director. He was also a Colorado state mission coordinator on the Western Slope. Greg became active with Mountain Rescue/Aspen 15 years ago. During those years, Greg served as rescue coordinator, president and director of Mountain Rescue. He was president of the Rocky Mountain Region of the Mountain Rescue Association at the time of his death. His concern was for back-country education and lifesaving techniques, not only in the mountains but also in the air, on our rivers, on our ski slopes, both in and out of bounds, during good conditions as well as after an avalanche. He repeatedly put mountain safety before his time with his family as exemplified by many post midnight volunteer hours. The Community Service Recognition Committee has established a very special award in honor of Greg Mace. If you have an individual in your organization whose outstanding contributions and selfless dedication would qualify him/her to be considered for such an award, please use the space below and the back of this form to submit theirnomination.
