PROPOSAL Valet Parking Service for the City of Aspen SUMMER 1997 VALLEY VALET, INC. is applying for permission to conduct public valet parking service for the City of Aspen for the summer season 1997. This service would commence with the Food and Wine Classic on Friday, June 13, 1997, and terminate at the end of the Labor Day Weekend August 3 I, 1997. Valley Valet has operated public valet parking in the Commercial Cure under license from the City of Aspen for the past four consecutive seasons, including the summer season of 1996. The Summer of 1996 was the first summer season in which valet parl4ng was offered tothe public. Based upon a comparison of the number of vehicles served in the summer of 1996 and the 1996-97 winter season, it is easy to conclude that there is a high demand for valet parking in the summer months. A comparison chart has been provided to you with this Proposal. Public Valet Parking in the Commercial Core has been a huge success and the service continues to grow in use and popularity. The number of cars served for the winter season 1996/1997 was 1,810. This was a 44.00% increase over the 1,256 vehicles served during the prior winter season. For the same period, revenue to the City of Aspen grew by 44.00% to $2,715.00. Many valet parking customers reside locally and are regular patrons of Aspeffs restaurants, clubs, and entertainment venues. Out of town visitors who use the service enjoy the convenience and ease of parking provided. The service continues to benefit the Commercial Core by relieving traffic congestion caused by drivers "circling" the area in search of parking. This valet parking service makes area enterprises more accessible to their patrons at no cost to the City of Aspen or business owners. Commencing January 1, 1997, Valley Valet, Inc., instituted a profit sharing program whereby 10% of all profits are donated to Aspen community charities and organizations. As of April 15, 1997, over $1,000.00 was contributed. Recipients include Kids' Stuff Foundation, Sunshine Kids, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Grassroots Aspen, Aspen Music Festival and School, and Aspen Educational Foundation. This summer Valley Valet will sponsor the Aspen Music Festival and School with a $2,500 contribution. Valley Valet looks forward to future seasons of service for the City of Aspen. We respectfully request your support and license to operate our fifth consecutive season of public valet parking for the City of Aspen. Brian K. Wexler Valley Valet, Inc. May 20, 1997.
