MINUTES OF'OCTOBER 16~ 2002
Bill Dinsmoor opened the Commercial Core and Lodging meeting with
Charles Kennedy, and Eric Cohen present at 8:40 a.m. Terry Butler arrived
at 8:50 a,m. Jon Busch, Jolm Starr and Andrew Kole were excused. Staff in
attendance was Jackie Lothian, Deputy City Clerk.
Aspen Saturday Market Discussion
Charles met with Susan and Claudia from the Crafts part of the market.
There was talk of expansion of the market to 30 booths. Claudia would
contact a graphic designer to create a logo. The Aspen Saturday Market
name would remain. A marketing plan was being worked on. The market
hours would be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for all booths including the farmers'
portion. They wanted to add another cooking demonstration t6 2 per
Saturday from June to September. The cooking demos would be the only
thing in the park, no crafts booths but maybe Seth and MAA students.
Possibly intertwine the crafts booths with the food booths, Charles will ask
the MAA about music students playing in the park during the market with
the possibility of selling MAA tickets.
Expansion of the area to (I) Galena in front of City Hall to the alley; (2) East
on Hopkins; (3) Hunter toward Main to alley; and (4)We,s~t on,Hopkins to
just before the Fire Station. ' '
Staffwas directed to contact Tim Ware and JeffWoods regarding the
expansion for the next meeting.
Charles mentioned a non-profit card-selling program.
The CCLC also discussed compactors and the appropriate procedure to
change from dumpsters to compactors. Issues would involve electricity,
cement pad etc.
Bill talked to Julie Paxton regarding carolers for the holidays. Julie will
contact staff regarding the fees.
There was also discussion as to how not have CCLC, DIG be redundant.
Eric reported on infill and mentioned the remodel of Truscott vs new
construction. P&Z recommended only retail in the commercial core for the
first floor.
