MINUTES OF JANUARY 29~ 2003
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance: Eric Cohen, Charles Kennedy, and Andrew
Kole. Excused were John Start, Jon Busch and Terry Butler.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Andrew felt that the Winterskol parade was unsuccessful. He also
mentioned that Whistler, Canada desires to have Gay Ski Week next year
and they have 8,000 people. He also feels the Comedy Fest will go to Santa
Barbara next year because no one is talking to them.
Bill said he is also sensing that there was no follow through after Rossi was
fired regarding Gay Ski Week and WinterskoL
Eric reported on infill. The existing height will be going from 40 to 42 feet
height with a special review for 52 foot. The general public does not
understand. They do not want any height changes or view plane changes.
Eric said the Winterskol fire works were awesome.
Staff reported that the public hearing on the expansion is Feb. 10, 5:00 p.m.
Bill said the Newspaper insert from the Ritz Carlton is falling out of the
papers all over town. Either it is the shiny insert or people just dropping it.
Bill said Hana Pevny said there should be an application for small events
that need money quickly.
Saturday Market:
Claudia Cunningham and Charles Kennedy presented the board with
proposed logos. The board commended them for their efforts in pursuing
the logo. The intent is to sell hats, bags, visors at the Saturday Market.
Ideas to bring in more people to the market:
Banners on Main St. - Hunter and Main.
Run an ad in the Music Festival guide.
Do a media kit.

Bill suggested that we let the vendors know that there will be no parking
behind City Hall for the vendors. That area will be needed for the
demonstrators.
Staff was directed to redo the application to add a section on parking
options.
