AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,
AMENDING THE ~CIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF ASPEN TO INCREASE CERTAIN
MUNICIPAL FEES.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a policy of requiring consumers and users of the
miscellaneous City of Aspen programs and services ro pay fees that fairly approximate the costs of
providing such programs and services; and
WHEREAS. the City Council has determined that certain fees currently in effect do not
raise revenues sufficient to pay for the attendant costs of providing said programs and servmes.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ASPENi COLORADO:
Section 1
That Section 2.12.020 of the Municipal Code of the City of Aspen, Colorado, which section sets
forth certain user fees for ice skating, is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.12.020 Lewis lee Arena and Aspen Ice Garden.
The following user fees shall apply to the Lewis Ice Arena and the Aspen Ice Garden:
Type of Ice
For Profit (corporate rare) - Entire Facility 5; 200/hour
General Rental (private group or individual) $180/hour
Adult Non-Profit 5; 150/hour
Youth Non-Profit $140/hour
Pass Holder Non-Pass Holder
Skate Rental 5; 2.50 $2.50
Skate Sharpening $ 5.00 5;;5.00
Pick-up Hockey 5; 12.00 5; 15.00/session
Free Style Sessions $ 8.00 $11.00
Skating Classes $10.00/class $13.00/class
Locker Rentals
Hockey - yearly $ 200.00
Figure - yearly (1/2 locker) $ 150.00
Hockey- seasonal (7 months) $ 130.00
Figure - seasonal (7 months) $ 80.00
Hockey & Figure (monthly) $ 30.00
Schools & Camps (weekly) $ 15.00
Section 2
That Chapter 2.12 of the Municipal Code of the City of Aspen. Colorado, shall be amended by the
addition of a new Section 2.12.014 which section shall read as follows:
2.12.014 Recreation Department Fun Pass.
The Recreation Department shall issue Fun Passes that provides access to the holder of such a pass
to the following facilities and activities: use of the lames E. Moore Pool, public or open skating m
the Lewis Ice Arena or Aspen Ice Garden, use of the climbing wall at the Red Brick Recreation
Center, fitness classes held at the Red Brick Recreation Center, aquatic fitness classes at the Aspen
Recreation Center, terrors cour~ rental and usage at the Aspen Tcmnis Center, and usage of the
weight room and indoor track at the Aspen High School. Usage, participation and access to the
above activities may be limited to certain times and dates as indicated on the pass.

Section 3
That Chapter 2.12 of the Municipal Code of the City of Aspen, Colorado, shall be amended by the
addition of a new Section 2.12.016 which section shall read as follows:
2.12.016 Aspen Recreation Center.
Meeting room rental:
Non-profit Use: $52.00/hr.
Corporate: $62.00/hr.
Exclusive use of the facility:
Non-profit Use: $1,000.00/hr. (4 hrs. minimum)
Corporate: $2,000.00/hr. (4 hrs. minimum)
Section 3
The effective date of this ordinance shall be January 1, 2003.
Section 4
This ordinance shall not have any effect on existing litigation and shall not operate as an abatement of any
action or proceeding now pending under or by virtue of the ordinances amended as herein provided, and the
same shall be construed mad concluded under such prior ordinances.
Section 5
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held
invalid or unconstitutional in a court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate.
distinct and independent provision and shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof.
A public hearing on the ordinance shall be held on the 27th day May, 2003, in the City Council Chambers,
Aspen City Hall. Aspen, Colorado.
