Mayor Bennett called the meeting to order at 4:20 p.m. with
Councilmembers Paulson, Richards, Vickery, and Markalunas present.
ORDINANCE #3, SERIES OF 1999
– Iselin/Rotary Park Rezoning
Chris Bendon, community development department, reminded Council this
matter was continued from the march 22, 1999 meeting. Staff had originally
proposed the zoning for the newly annexed Iselin/Rotary park by Pub,
public. There were concerns from the neighborhood about Pub, public
zoning. The ordinance was amended to zone the area P, Park; the ordinance
was renoticed for final adoption. The P, park zone includes all uses there
now and also includes uses contemplated in the master plan.
Mayor Bennett opened the public hearing.
King Woodward, representing the Maroon/Castle Creek Caucus, said the
park zone is more appropriate. The neighbors were concerned about
affordable housing in the Pub, public zone. The neighbors could support 1
or 2 caretaker units for the new parks plan.
Mayor Bennett closed the public hearing.
Councilwoman Richards moved to adopt Ordinance 33, Series of 1999, on
second reading; seconded by councilman Paulson. Roll call vote;
Councilmembers Markalunas, yes; Vickery, yes; Richards, yes; Paulson,
yes; Mayor Bennett, yes. Motion carried.
Councilman Markalunas moved to continue the meeting to 5:30 p.m.;
seconded by Councilwoman Richards. Council went into work session at
