MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 17, 2003
Chairperson, Bill Dinsmoor called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Commissioners in attendance: Charles Kennedy, Andrew Kole, John Starr
and Ex-officio Mark Breslin. Excused were Eric Cohen and Terry Butler.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
The board recapped the work session on the ACRA marketing.
Andrew said the Mayor perception is that the CCLC ~s overstepping their
role.
Mark said the CCLC needs to have a work session with council to discuss
what they want out of CCLC as a board. The board unanimously agreed
that a work session is needed.
Charles said we need to address what we can offer the city in regards to
helping other committees such as the community development and their
retail study etc.
Bill said the CCLC has been invited to elect a representative to serve on the
Marketing Advisory Committee currently chaired by Jim Baker. Bill said
he would respond to Jim and let him know that we would like to attend the
meetings.
Charles said we can win by the process we make. What role can we play
that ads value to our community.
John said we should invite Jim Baker and Amy Margerum to one of our
meetings.
Andrew discussed reorganizing the CCLC as a board. Andrew said our goal
is to have an independent sponsorship for special events. Andrew suggested
a new vision for sponsorship called Aspen Community Commission (ACC).

Mission: To enhance downtown experience and look to future marketing tax
potential.
Charles said we need a lodging person involved and this could be our NEW
CCLC commission with additional representatives from the Rec.
Department and Merchants Association.
Bill said we need to create a different focus for the CCLC.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
