Mayor Bennett called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. with
Councilmembers Peters, Reno, Richards, and Pendleton present.
Councilwoman Pendleton moved to go into executive session for the
purpose of discussing real property acquisition; seconded by
Councilwoman Richards.
John Colson, Aspen Times , stated the public has a legitimate
interest in the discussion leading up to whatever decision the
Council may make about this property acquisition. Colson said the
public interest is ill-served by closing this discussion.
All in favor, motion carried.
Councilman Peters moved to come out of executive session at 6:35
p.m.; seconded by Mayor Bennett. All in favor, motion carried.
Councilwoman Richards moved to offer the school board $2.3 million
cash for the purchase of the red brick school property contingent
upon approval of the voters for a bond issue to meet the purchase
price and renovation costs; seconded by Councilman Peters. All in
favor, motion carried.
Council rescheduled the show cause hearing for China Club March 24
at 5:00 p.m.
Councilman Peters moved to adjourn at 6:45 p.m.; seconded by
Councilwoman Richards. All in favor, motion carried.
