WHEREAS, Alan Richman h'as diligently served the City of Aspen and Pitkin
County, many different Councils and Boards, and all the people for over ten years, and
WHEREAS, Alan has accomplished brilliant case work, visionary long range
planning and courageous land use legislation, and
WHE~S, This Tarheel fan has demonstrated in his evolution from planner to
Assistant Planning Director to Planning Director to Agency Head a willingness to tacMe
tough issues and handle with dignity and grace what were often withering attacks from
the public and even elected officials, and

perseverance and hard work to his planning for the City and the County, and
WI-IE~S, He demonstrated on behalf of the people a willingness to listen and
'change and the new Council welcomes the opportunity to continue working with him
over the next 90 days to draft important land use elements which should be in the long
term best interest of the town, and
WHEREAS, Alan's commitment is indicative of all the planning staff's willingness
to interpret, assist and articulate ttte burning land use issues of the day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, that by this resolution Alan Richman be commended
for his service to the City of Aspen, and that this commendation be spread upon the
public records of the city.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alan
Richman as evidence of this appreciation of the City of Aspen for his service.
