HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolution.council.019-89 RESOLUTION NO. 19 (Ser~es of 1989) WHEREAS, Tom Isaac has ably and faithfully served as Councilmember of the City of Aspen, Colorado, for four years and his outstanding service has contributed to the continued prosperity of the City and the accomplishment of it's goal, and WHEREAS, Tom also served on the Planning and Zoning Commssion before his first appointment to the City Council in 1978, and WHEREAS, Tom has proven to be one of the most indefatigable campaigners in recent Aspen history, proving to be a formidable opponent in every contest, and WHEREAS, Tom's neighborhood is so politically active that the King and Queen street ward will still be represented by his neighbor, and WHEREAS, Tom was the liaison between the City and the Aspen Resort Association, represented the Council on the Sister Cities Committee and also attended the Ruedi Water and Power Authority session on behalf of the people, and WHEREAS, Tom served on former State Senator Tom Glass's staff in Denver and was recently appointed by the Governor to the State Land Use Commission, and WHEREAS, Tom travelled to Davos, Switzerland, and ably represented the Council at the forrnalizing of our sister-cityship with Davos in 198Z and WHEREAS, Tom is the only Council. member to participate in a meeting from his hospital bed by electronic hookup and has always exhibited courage, dedication, and has been an inspiration to all of us, WHEREAS, Tom always hit the ground rolling and was not only a champion of the cause of disabled people everywhere but authored a handicapped access booklet for Aspen and helped organize a National Democratic Party Committee dedicated to improving access for the disabled nationwide, and WHEREAS, unfortunately the Council will no longer have to be sensitive to whether it meets on certain holiday.. · Oh my God, an all male, all wasp Council, and WHEREAS, Tom will always make sure the Council gives full access to everyone tn every case. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, that by this resolution Tom lsaac be commended for his service to the City of Aspen, and that this commendation be spread upon the public records of the city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Tom Isaac as evidence of this appreciation of the City of Aspen for his service. Dated this 12th day of June 1989. William L.
