RESOLUTION NO. 7 Series of 1991 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ASPEN PROVIDING THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS GUIDANCE ON l'U'J.'uKE OWNERSHIP OPTIONS FOR THE EXISTING MAROON CREEK BRIDGE WHEREAS, the Aspen City Council (hereinafter "Council") is in the process of working with the Colorado Department of Highways (hereinafter "CDOH") to develop design guidelines for the 4(f) lands in the State Highway 82 corridor (hereinafter SH 82) between the Airport and Seventh and Main; WHEREAS, as part of this effort the Council and CDOH, as well as the Pitkin county Board of County Commissioners are e attempting to establish how the existing Maroon Creek bridge will be maintained and operated and who will own it; and WHEREAS, the Council needs cost figures regarding the ultimate configuration of the bridge, and maintenance and operations of the bridge before they can make a proposal to the CDOH on ownership of the existing Maroon Creek bridge. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Aspen that the Colorado Department of Highways undertake the following steps to provide the Council with information so they can make a proposal to CDOH regarding bridge ownership: 1. The CDOH can undertake the historic redesignation process to determine whether or not the existing Maroon Creek bridge can be restored to its original historic railroad width; 2 . The CDOH can identify the cost of improving the existing bridge for trails use, whether highway width or trail width; . and . 3. The CDOH can outline an operations and maintenance program for each alternative bridge width. Date ~ ~ , 1991 ~~ William L.
