A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE ASPEN SCHOOL
DISTRICT THE FINAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE
RED BRICK SCHOOL BUILDING AND TO THEREAFTER EXECUTE A CONTRACT TO
BUY THE SAME.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Aspen has deter-
mined that it is in the City's best interests to purchase the
property commonly referred to as the Red Brick School Building
situated in the City of Aspen upon certain terms and conditions;
and
WHEREAS, the Aspen School Board has indicated its desire to
sell the Red Brick School Building to the City of Aspen.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO:
That the city Council of the City of Aspen hereby authorizes
the City Manager to negotiate with the Aspen School Board, or its
authorized agent, the final terms and conditions for the purchase
of the property commonly referred to as the Red Brick School
Building and thereafter execute a Contract to Buy and Sell Real
Estate, approved as to form by the City Attorney, for the same;
provided, however, that said terms and conditions contain the
following general provisions:
(1) The purchase price shall not exceed Two Million Six
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,600,000.00) in cash or certified
funds to be paid at closing; and
(2) The Contract to Buy and Sell Real Estate shall be
specifically conditioned upon approval by a majority of the
electorate at the Special Municipal Election set for August 11,
1992, authorizing the City of Aspen to purchase the Red Brick
School Building from the Aspen School Board for Two Million Six
Hundred Thousand Dollars and authorizing the issuance of Three
Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($3,600,000.00) in general
obligation bonds fo~ the purchase and renovation of the building.
